Who can apply? 

Students that hold a master degree (or diploma) in law or economics, or a comparable university degree. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Law and Economics.

Is the EMLE a prerequisite for the EDLE? 

No. The European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) is a postgraduate programme in Law and Economics. Applicants that have an EMLE degree are well-suited for the EDLE, but the EMLE is not a prerequisite. To find out more about the European Master in Law and Economics, please click here.

What type of background knowledge is requested? 

EDLE is open both to economists and lawyers. Economists should be familiar with game theory, public economics, and econometrics. They should be interested in writing a thesis on the economic analysis of law. Lawyers should have basic knowledge of calculus and microeconomics, and should have advanced knowledge in the field of law they intend to explore. All applicants should be familiar with the law and economics method.
