24.07.2009: EDLE receives "Erasmus Mundus"-Status by the European Commission
Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility funding programme of the European Union that aims to support excellence in doctorate studies. The grant includes 18 full stipends and additional finance for high level education and for mobility of students and faculty.
EDLE is operated jointly by the Universities of Rotterdam, Bologna and Hamburg together with the Indira Ghandi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, as an associated partner. EDLE aims at furthering excellent doctoral research in law and economics. Students spent one term at each partner university and have the option of an additional research period at the IGIDR. The degree ?Dr. EDLE? is awarded by each of the partner universities.
The participation of the European Doctorate in Law and Economics in Erasmus Mundus reinforces the position of the EDLE as the leading European doctoral programme in law and economics.
Additional information about the Mundus Scholarships will be provided by the European Commission in the fall. It will be posted on the website as soon as it becomes available.
In addition to the EDLE programme, the European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) could maintain its Erasmus Mundus Status and will receive funding to improve the mobility of students and faculty as well as grants for the administrative tasks of the programme. The EMLE is a one-year master programme offered by a consortium of European und Non-European universities including the Universities of Bologna, Hamburg and Rotterdam. 08.08.2008: Midterm Meeting 2009
The annual Midterm Meeting of the Erasmus Mundus European Master in Law and Economics Programme will be held at the University of Hamburg on February 13-14, 2009. The Midterm Meeting will start with a One-day Conference on Law and Economics on February 13, 2009. Papers in any field of Law and Economics are welcome to be submitted for presentation at the workshop. You can find more information here.
06.06.2008: Ceremony in Honour of Prof. Dr. Hans-Bernd Schaefer

On June 6th, 2008, a grand ceremony was held in the Guesthouse of the University of Hamburg in honour of Prof. Dr. Hans-Bernd Schäfer on the occasion of his recent 65th birthday. Professor Schäfer was presented a commemorative volume (Festschrift) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of Law and Economics, both in terms of academic achievement and his continuous dedication to building an institutional structure for Law and Economics in Europe.
The volume, which was presented by the editors Thomas Eger, Jochen Bigus, Claus Ott, and Georg von Wangenheim, comprises articles by 59 renowned legal and economic scholars under the title Internationalization of the Law and Its Economic Analysis. The ceremony was attended by more than 50 distinguished professors from throughout Europe, including most of the authors of the volume and the coordinators of the European Master Programme in Law and Economics.
