It is with great pleasure that we can announce that on Thursday 19 January 2017, at 15.30 hours, Stephan Michel will defend his thesis: The Process of Constitution-Making: A Law and Economics Analysis. This will be the 50th defence in the European Doctorate in Law and Economics (EDLE) since the start of the programme in 2005.
The first EDLE PhD candidate defended successfully in 2009. At that time only the Erasmus University and the University of Bologna were taking part in the EDLE programme. In 2009, the University of Hamburg joined the programme and with the Erasmus Mundus recognition through the European Commission in 2010 the EDLE grew from six PhD candidates per year to a group of fifteen PhD candidates that started each year. When the Erasmus Mundus programme ended in 2015, the University of Haifa became a partner in the programme and the EDLE continued with a group of ten PhD candidates per year.
